Over 50 players and their wives attended the Chesterfield ExSpires FC Presentation Evening held at the Proact Stadium on Friday 22nd February 2019.
Our President, Andy (Bruno) Morris, gave out the awards to the various winners for 2018, with Alan Reynolds receiving the ‘Most Improved Player Award’, Rob Broad and Phil Woodward taking joint ‘Player of the Year Award’ and a special award to goalkeeper ‘Eric the Cat’ Bagshaw, who became 80 years young in January this year, being the ‘Clubman of the Year’.
An excellent hot and cold buffet was served by the hospitality staff of Chesterfield Football Club and a musical interlude was provided by cornet playing Keith Arrowsmith, yet another one of our players with a diverse range of talent!
Chesterfield ExSpires Football Club held their annual Presentation Evening at Chesterfield Football Club’s Proact Stadium on Friday 23rd February 2018.
Over 90 players and guests attended the joint presentation evening held with the Senior Spireites FC (walking football players).
Winners of the awards of the Chesterfield ExSpires FC were as follows:
Player of the Year 2017: Kevin Buxton
Clubman of the Year 2017: Tony Bates
Most Improved Player of the Year: John Williams
An excellent buffet meal was provided by the staff at the Proact Stadium with music given by Chesterfield ExSpires FC player Keith Arrowsmith (cornet solo) and singer Janie Underwood, daughter of Chesterfield ExSpires FC player Mike Underwood and his wife, Sue.
Andy (Bruno) Morris, President of the Chesterfield ExSpires FC, gave congratulatory words of encouragement, mentioning how the Chesterfield ExSpires FC had grown in stature and camaraderie and since being formed nearly eight years ago.
Following a warm-up session the ExSpires had an in depth coaching session with Phil, our designated FA Coach. We then played two six-a-side games, with Phil the coach playing in one of the sides. At the end of the session, which lasted about 2 hours 30 minutes, Phil said “we were the best bunch of players that he had the pleasure of coaching, due to our playing ability, attitude towards the training session and general understanding of playing football”. A good time was enjoyed by all who made the visit to a place were the facilities are truly exceptional.
Mel Pullen was elected as Manager following the resignation of Chris Parsons from the Committee. As a thank you, Chris was presented with a signed football and a Certificate of Meritorious Service Award for holding the Managers position for the past two years.

Nine 6-a-side games were played at Badley Fields Football Development Centre, Grimsby, where honours were even: Won 3, Drew 3, Lost 3. A really good experience held at a centre with very impressive facilities.

Chesterfield ExSpires Football Club held their first Presentation Evening at Chesterfield F.C.’s Proact Stadium on Saturday 9th February 2013.
Over 60 players with their wives, family and friends attended the evening, which was held in the Sponsors Lounge at the ground. Andy Morris and his wife Angelina were the guests of honour, with Andy making the player presentations. Player of the Year 2012 went to John Longstaff, Clubman of the Year 2012 went jointly to Ken Fletcher and Chris Parsons. The most Improved Player of the Year 2012 went to Tony Bates. There was a special presentation of a pair of golden gloves signed by Tommy Lee, made to goalkeeper Eric Bagshaw. Eric will be celebrating his 75 birthday this year. During the evening, music was provided by the Wendy Kirkland Jazz Quartet and an excellent hot buffet was provided by the club’s catering department. A raffle in aid of Children in Romania raised £170.00
The ExSpires hope to hold future social gatherings during the year and also raise the possibility of touring the Eindhoven region of the Netherlands to play six-a -side games against similar veteran teams.
